Cincinnati, Ohio (March 12, 2024) – Later this summer, LionWing is going to introduce its first of two brand-new RPG product lines called the LionWing QuickPlay series. The LionWing QuickPlay series is our opportunity to continue working with independent TTRPG designers from Japan, to bring their works to the global stage. After all, indie TTRPGs from Japan are what got us to the dance, and we want to continue to shine a spotlight on these developers and the wonderful games that they are creating that would otherwise go unreleased in the West.

Our QuickPlay series is a very specialized product line that focuses on short and digestible, gateway role-playing game experiences. So often the thing that gets in the way of TTRPGs reaching a broader audience is in fact TTRPGs. Often times when we speak with would be players and ask them what holds them back from jumping in to the TTRPG waters, often hear the same concerns. Those concerns are:

• The books are too thick, daunting and intimidating.
• The rules are too complex, and therefore require too much of a time commitment.
• The games require too many players.
• The games are too expensive.

These barriers are what keep the genre from growing, and yet these very issues are what have defined the tabletop role-play game genre for decades. So, when we were coming up with the QuickPlay series concept, the team agreed that this product line would be our attempt at removing those barriers-to-entry by offering books that were the antithesis of all four of those issues.

Thus, not just any game can qualify for our QuickPlay series. These games have to meet four criteria in order to be considered for the line. Those four criteria are:

• Games that are low in page count (50-100 pages).
• Games that are low in rules complexity (accessible rules that can be learned in ten minutes or less).
• Games that are low in player count (1-4 players, and that’s including the GM).
• Games that are low in cost (all QuickPlay books retail between $12.99-19.99USD).

Our hope is that games, which satisfy these four criteria, will be appealing to newcomers and act as the perfect entry point into the genre.

All QuickPlay Books will forgo crowdfunding—which we have used for all of our previous projects—and will instead go direct to market. We will be releasing one QuickPlay book a quarter, starting with Q3 2024, which means by year's end, you will have gotten two QuickPlay Books from us. With this steady stream of super accessible, pick-up-and-play books, you will constantly have a new LionWing game to check out.
